technotrans launches a talent management programme and doubles its number of apprenticeship positions

  • Innovative talent management concept for systematic human resources development
  • Doubling of the 2023 apprenticeship positions at the Sassenberg headquarters
  • Group-wide focus on recruiting young talents

Innovative and highly personalised concept for tackling the skills shortage: technotrans SE launches a group-wide talent management programme for the demand-based development of its employees. The aim of the programme, which has been awarded the prize "Attraktiver Arbeitgeber im Kreis Warendorf 2022" (attractive employer in the Warendorf region 2022), is the strategic talent identification and development throughout the technotrans group. In addition, the specialist for thermal management solutions will intensify its focus on the training of junior staff. At the Sassenberg headquarters, technotrans will double the number of apprenticeship positions as of 2023.

"In view of the growing shortage of specialised and managerial staff, we continuously ask ourselves the following crucial question: How can we develop and support our employees and ensure their long-term loyalty?", says Timo Sterzl, Head of HR Germany at technotrans. One way to do so is the strategic talent management, a group-wide development programme developed by technotrans. The bespoke combination of a variety of measures and methods aligns the requirements of the group with the development of the employees based on their strengths and potential.

"The programme is designed in a needs-oriented and targeted way. During the first year, we focus on young executives," says Karin Schwarzenberger, Human Resources Development and Employer Branding Officer at technotrans. technotrans develops the high-potential employees at an early stage and prepares them for their future roles. To identify prospects, technotrans uses a multi-stage, multi-modal selection process with scientifically proven test methods. In addition to the specific performance factors, individual potential, motivation and willingness to learn were the factors that were analysed in the preliminary stages. During the measure, the participants in the talent management programme work together on an innovation project which has been defined by the executive board. Experienced technotrans employees act as mentors during the programme.

Higher priority for training and education

In the recruitment sector, technotrans will be setting greater store by the training of junior staff at all of its locations. The technotrans group has a total of 109 apprentices with 42 young talents having started their career in the group this year. Next year, this number will considerably increase: At the Sassenberg headquarters, technotrans will double the number of apprenticeship positions. "Training new talents is immensely important as the number of people applying decreases every year and the demographic change will exacerbate this situation," says Anna-Lena Freese, HR Business Partner and Head of Training at technotrans.

Filling positions that are less common, such as mechatronic technicians for refrigeration technology or technical system planners, is a considerable challenge. The company employs a mix of measures with the aim of promoting these fields of specialisation. Personal exchange with potential candidates, e.g. in schools or at apprenticeship fairs, is essential. For next year, all apprenticeship positions have already been filled. "At technotrans, the young talents will benefit from a multifaceted training scheme which enables them to identify and expand their own strengths. Our company culture is based on a flat hierarchy and a family-like atmosphere," stresses Freese. For example, the Executive Board personally introduces itself to the new trainees at the beginning of their apprenticeship.

For 2023, technotrans is still accepting applications. The company offers apprenticeships in a total of 17 different fields and also dual education programme places in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, combined industrial engineering and business administration as well as business studies.
