technotrans at the Battery Show: Efficient high-voltage cooling technology for EVs

  • The company demonstrates a thermal management solution for special electric vehicles
  • The focus is on the energy efficiency and reliability of systems
  • Highlight at the exhibition booth is the high-voltage battery cooling variant

Customized cooling for EVs: technotrans SE presents its efficient technologies for cooling mobile Li-ion batteries at this year’s Battery Show from November 30 to December 2 in Stuttgart. In addition to its use in road and rail vehicles, the group has intensified provision of its solutions for electric off-road and other special vehicles (for seaports and airports, construction sites, and mines).  A particular focus in this respect is on zeta.road, the high-voltage variant of the extremely efficient and compact battery cooling system being demonstrated by the thermal management specialist at the trade fair. technotrans is also exhibiting powerful cooling solutions for charging cables and rapid charging stations.

“E-mobility is no longer solely a core issue relating to passenger transport. Electrified drive solutions are increasingly found today in transport, construction and special vehicles, and each and every one of these requires efficient battery cooling systems. These systems contribute significantly to the advancement and performance of vehicles,” says Bastian Thiel, Sales Manager at technotrans. The company has for many years now developed customized solutions for battery and charging cable cooling and is one of the pioneers in this field. “In the area of rail vehicles in particular, our many years of experience makes us one of the leading providers on the market,” adds Thiel.

In the context of the new Future Ready 2025 group strategy, the E-Mobility division is a decisive component of the Energy Management focus market. This division successively contributes to the expansion of technotrans, continually opening up new application areas. Rather than concentrating on manufacturers in the road and rail vehicle segment, technotrans particularly wishes to use this year’s appearance at the Battery Show to also address manufacturers of different special vehicles.

Battery cooling for sophisticated applications
The core exhibit in the technotrans trade fair booth is the high-voltage variant of the zeta.road battery cooling system that dispenses with a DC-DC converter. The solution guarantees a consistent battery temperature, thus ensuring reliable functioning and a long service life for high-performance batteries in EVs. Systems in the zeta.road series are also distinguished by high energy efficiency achieved through speed-controlled components. Thanks to a plug and play system, installation at the operating location is speedy and uncomplicated. Customers can choose between the standard variant and a customized option that accommodates individual demands regarding design, cooling and pumping capacity and other features.

Potential areas of use for technotrans solutions include off-road vehicles for seaports and airports, construction sites and mines. These include excavators, mining trucks and harbor AGVs. These vehicles often need to work under the most adverse conditions. In addition to other qualities, appropriate cooling systems also need to withstand environmental stress such as dust, dirt, moisture and heavy transportation weights. In response to this, technotrans focuses on robust, high-quality engineering and the reliable and efficient operation of equipment. “We are already using refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP) in our latest battery cooling systems. We will also strive to use this in future systems to reduce the carbon footprint of our equipment even further,” says Thiel.

technotrans SE is exhibiting at Battery Show Europe 2021 from November 30 to December 2 in Hall 6, Booth 545.
