technotrans has once again successfully completed SELO certification (China Special Equipment Licensing Office) for its teco and tecma temperature control unit series. The licence authorises the company to supply and commission temperature control systems with heating capacities exceeding 100 kilowatts in China. Only a small number of suppliers in Europe meet the demanding requirements. technotrans has held the certification for more than ten years. By successfully completing the time- and resource-intensive audit process, the company has secured a decisive strategic advantage in the Asian market. This applies particularly to the rapidly growing segment of laminating presses within plastics processing, for example in semiconductor and electronics production.

The certification process under China’s TSG regulations (Technical Safety Regulation) is one of the most demanding regulatory procedures of its kind. In terms of documentation requirements, the regulations go far beyond European and North American standards such as the Pressure Equipment Directive, AD 2000 or ASME and require complete documentation of all production and quality management processes.

During the audit process, Chinese inspectors scrutinise the entire company: from the design and calculation of components to batch and certificate traceability, as well as all design drawings, bills of materials and circuit diagrams. technotrans invested a full year in preparations and formed a cross-site, interdisciplinary project team comprising specialists from quality management, production, welding supervision and sales. In total, the company invested a six-figure sum in the process. The successful certification covers the teco and tecma series: temperature control units for hot water up to 220 degrees Celsius and thermal oil up to 430 degrees Celsius.

Complete global portfolio for machine and plant manufacturers

International machine manufacturers can therefore equip their entire machine portfolio with technotrans systems without having to rely on alternative suppliers for the Asian market. The regulations are also gaining importance beyond China: Taiwan is aligning itself with Chinese requirements, while India is preparing a similar set of regulations.

The certification opens up significant potential, particularly in the context of the global AI boom. Asian manufacturers use large plastics laminating presses to produce microchips and printed circuit boards. These presses operate continuously around the clock and require precisely controlled heating systems with electrical heating capacities that can exceed 500 kilowatts. With its SELO-certified systems, technotrans addresses precisely this highly specialised and demanding requirement.
