Profitable Print at drupa 2012

High returns on a low investment

The easiest way to make more profit is to reduce costs. This simple rule is the basis of technotrans’ slogan for drupa 2012: ‘Blue Check – profitable print production’.

This is the seventh time that technotrans AG exhibites at drupa. The press ancillaries manufacturer has traditionally focused on productivity, starting 26 year ago when it wowed the graphic arts industry with its dampening solution preparation which subsequently became a standard in offset presses.

“Unlike previous shows, this drupa we will not focus on technological innovation for its own sake but on using it to save money”, explains Henry Brickenkamp, the Speaker of the Board of Directors at technotrans AG. “As our slogan implies we want to help printers in these difficult economic times. We can do so by increasing their awareness of cost-effective solutions that offer real savings. Here technotrans has a common purpose with our OEM partners, the printing press manufacturers.”

Energy-efficiency, the conservation of resources, lower consumption of additives and reduced press maintenance are among the topics that will be discussed on the technotrans stand (Hall 2 Stand B46). All have the potential to reduce consumables, energy and personnel costs and, in doing so, to safeguard profitability.

“Reducing costs is complementary to the idea of ‘Green Printing’, that is a hot topic for everyone these days,” says Henry Brickenkamp. “Although the protection of the environment is important for most printers the critical issue is remaining in the black and protecting the well-being of the business. If both economic and ecological targets can be achieved in tandem then so much the better!”

At the technotrans booth, visitors to the drupa 2012 can take advantage of a free ‘Blue Check’ for cost-efficient print production for their company. It will review current equipment and provide an analysis detailing areas where improvements could be made. This could cover dampening solution filtration, ink supply, energy-saving and heat recovery options etc

technotrans believes that many printers could achieve double-digit percentage savings if they adopt its comprehensive pressroom action plans. Over 30 years the company has proved its innovative approach. The Sassenberg operation has created applications for dampening solution filtration, automated ink supply, varnish and water preparation, central water cooling, heat recovery and spray bars. It has a well-proven track record.

“Most of the innovations on the technotrans drupa stand are solutions for the energy-efficiency of peripheral units for new printing presses”, says Henry Brickenkamp. “Also the new ink dosing units for special inks that we recently added to our product portfolio will be of particular interest to packaging visitors.”

Although its name is associated with offset litho, this drupa technotrans will also reflect its involvement in the hot topic of digital printing.

“The challenges set by faster presses and higher productivity are nothing new for technotrans,” says Henry Brickenkamp. “Suppliers of digital printing presses will be as surprised as our offset manufacturing customers by the ideas and performance-enhancing solutions a technological company like technotrans has to offer. Our focus is on optimizing print production, whether digital or conventional offset.”
