Gardening for a good cause on Social Day: technotrans trainees support Freckenhorster Werkstätten

  • Twelve trainees are involved in the initiative
  • Focus on social exchange and commitment in the region
  • Planting of a 16 m long beech hedge

During the Social Day initiative, twelve technotrans SE trainees have planted a 16 m long beech hedge on the vocational training grounds of Freckenhorster Werkstätten in Beckum. The voluntary initiative was met with great enthusiasm by all the participants. The technology provider from Sassenberg and the sheltered workshop for disabled people plan to intensify their exchange.

"Regional commitment and social responsibility are very important for us as a company as well as for our trainees. This is definitely reflected by the enthusiasm and eagerness of everyone involved," says Anna-Lena Freese, HR Business Partner and Head of Training at technotrans. Equipped with shovels and rakes provided by Freckenhorster Werkstätten, the trainees started digging for a good cause on Friday morning. The new hedge separates the outside area from the access road and provides a cosy atmosphere for the workshop employees during breaks out in the fresh air. Georg Blönik, guidance counsellor at Freckenhorster Werkstätten is clearly impressed by the vigour of the trainees: "We are very happy about the hands-on support of these young people – they really put their heart into it."

The technotrans trainees managed to organise the event at very short notice and the required volunteers were also quickly found. technotrans has been participating in the Social Day initiative for several years. The company releases the participating trainees from their work duties and gives them a lot of freedom in planning and implementing the activities. "We chose Freckenhorster Werkstätten because they provide a valuable contribution to the vocational rehabilitation of disabled people. It is a project that we want to support," stresses Freese.

Both parties have agreed to further expand their partnership in the future in the form of an exchange programme during which technotrans trainees will explore Freckenhorster Werkstätten for a few days while some of the disabled people of Freckenhorster Werkstätten will be able to experience working life at technotrans in Sassenberg.
