Busworld 2015

technotrans AG presents a new battery cooling system for buses and coaches

Kortrijk/Sassenberg, 18 September 2015 – technotrans AG will present its mobile and stationary cooling solutions for the first time at the busworld 2015 exhibition. The company will exhibit its energy storage cooling modules, which are specifically adapted to the requirements of buses and coaches, from 16 October to 21 October at the international exhibition in Kortrijk, Belgium. The focus will be on flat cooling systems for lithium-ion batteries as well as dry coolers for charging stations and converters. technotrans will exhibit its innovative products at stand 816B in hall 8.

Electromobility is one of the latest buzzwords for the next generation of buses and coaches. In order to ensure the optimum operation of the required energy storage systems, technotrans AG has developed a special cooling system for lithium-ion batteries. Supercaps and ultracaps require a very specific temperature range in order to work efficiently and reliably. Effective and reliable cooling, which is ensured by the bespoke solutions offered by technotrans, is indispensable for trouble-free operation. The cooling and temperature control systems are customised for the manufacturers of the energy storage systems as well as for the manufacturers of buses and coaches, and they are qualified and manufactured in accordance with the relevant standards. The energy storage cooling systems made in Sassenberg, Westphalia, are successfully used in tramways, buses, and coaches all over the world, and they also cool the charging stations of railway and bus projects, for example at the Münster Stadtwerke, a local municipal energy supplier.

"Our modular zeta.line cooling units, which we will be presenting at this year's busworld exhibition, can be integrated in a particularly space-saving manner into the vehicles in combination with the energy store," explains Christian Walczyk, head of the sales team for industrial system solutions of technotrans. The batteries are cooled with water or air either actively by way of a compressor or passively in a particularly energy-saving manner with ambient air. Apart from mobile cooling units, technotrans will also present stationary cooling systems for charging stations and converters at the leading exhibition for buses and coaches. These cooling systems are usually based on glycol dry coolers, since the required cooling level enables the use of free cooling methods. The systems for converters and charging stations with a cooling capacity up to 900 kW are installed all around the world by technotrans service teams. "The capacity of our cooling systems is adapted to the specific requirements of our customers. They all work flawlessly in a temperature range from -25°C to +60°C," explains Christian Walczyk.

You can find technotrans at the busworld exhibition in Kortrijk on 16-21 October in hall 8 at stand 816B. Appointments for meetings can be scheduled prior to the start of the exhibition on +49 (0) 2583 301-1812.
