Social Day 2021: technotrans apprentices refurbish playgrounds in Sassenberg

  • 13 apprentices get busy with brushes and tools
  • technotrans supports local commitment and social engagement

Local social engagement: Once again this year, 13 technotrans SE apprentices participated in the Social Day. The team refurbished two playgrounds in Sassenberg on October 29th.

The apprentices take charge of planning and implementation. “Our apprentices can get involved personally here, right from the outset. They hold the meetings with municipal authorities and find out where their help is needed”, explains Tina Wegmeth, HR Officer at technotrans. This year’s project saw the apprentices refurbishing two playgrounds in consultation with the municipal authorities. Armed with brushes and tools, the participants mainly painted equipment from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., but minor repairs were also carried out. The team then gathered to have lunch together in the company canteen in Sassenberg. Tina Wegmeth is delighted by the involvement of the apprentices. “It’s great to see the eagerness with which these young people go to work. The Social Day also encourages independent working and social responsibility”. technotrans released all the participants from work for the Social Day.

The challenge of Covid-19
Covid-19 led to the Social Day being canceled last year, which is why the joy in participating again was now so great. “We believe social engagement is an especially important concern and part of the sustainable orientation of the technotrans group. Our apprentices are also delighted to be part of the initiative again this year”, says Wegmeth. Hygiene rules are observed during all projects to ensure that the Social Day is as safe as possible. Work was primarily realized outdoors in the fresh air, and everyone maintained safe distances.

Gemeinsam. Zukunft. Leben
The Social Day is organized every year by the “Inldulstrie – Gemeinsam. Zukunft. Leben” initiative of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). More than 360 enterprises are already part of this initiative. Actions involve the participants communicating directly with local people, and the projects are very well received. Since 2012, apprentices from the companies have been involved in kindergartens and retirement homes or in caring for urban spaces and facilities. Tina Wegmeth is very happy about the involvement of technotrans apprentices. “We’re delighted by the participation of our apprentices in the initiative and their social engagement for their immediate environment. No doubt about it, we’ll be more than happy to support the project again next year.”
