CPC buys more fast payback filtration capacity

CPC Packaging has bought its fourth beta.f dampening filtration system and its UK operations director Jonathan Drennan says that each of the technotrans units has brought a return on investment within seven months.

The company’s beta.f devices de-contaminate the dampening solution to enable the food packaging business to retain the quality and cleanliness expected by its customers.

“Rather than having to clean out the dampening solution every week or fortnight we now only have to change it over every three months,” says Mr Drennan. “To clean out the solution takes about two hours so for each press we’re saving about eight hours a month, 32 hours in total. This is where the savings lie; any savings in dampening solution is insignificant by comparison.”

The technotrans’ filters are lasting about six months on average. CPC Packaging’s operators are not required to attend to the units, bar the three monthly cleaning, leaving them free to concentrate on the printing. The filters are changed by the printer’s engineers.

In addition to the fourth beta.f for the company’s Bristol plant, CPC is also taking delivery of an alpha.v varnishing unit from technotrans which will be fitted onto its new Komori LS 640. This is a coating circulation system for supplying dispersion and UV coatings to the press and keeping the system clean.
