2006-09-25: Next generation cartridge-based ink supply by technotrans

New ink.line release at Graph Expo in Chicago / more than 11,000 ink supply systems for sheet-fed presses installed world-wide

Since 1999, technotrans has offered the ink.line system for the automatic ink supply of sheet-fed offset presses. With more than 11,000 installations worldwide, the ink.line system has attained acceptance as the market-leading standard. Last April, the successor of this proven solution was presented at the IPEX 2006 trade fair. With this new system, the use of 2 kg ink cartridges along with the central ink supply from large containers can be realised.

Based on many years of experience, the ink.line unit was extensively redesigned in terms of its user-friendliness. All of the manual tasks that were necessary to change the cartridges of the system's first generation are now handled by a robust, fully-automatic system. At the same time, the electronic components were optimised for direct integration into the printing press. "With this new release of the system, the automatic ink supply of sheet-fed offset presses will become even more efficient, as well as a natural tool of the press, just like the electric window lifter in a car", says Renko Möllers, product manager for the ink supply systems in sheet-fed offset printing at technotrans. "This paves the way for the next stage of the way towards becoming a standard in sheet-fed offset printing."

At the IPEX 2006, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, Koenig & Bauer AG, Komori Europe and Ryobi Limited presented machines that were equipped with the new ink.line system. For technotrans it is rather important that the next generation of this automatic ink supply system will be immediately available for all manufacturers when it is first launched. As a result of the extremely positive reactions to the release, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG has already started to change its series production.

The next presentation of the new ink.line system will be in the USA at the GraphExpo in Chicago from 15 to 18 October 2006.
