Colourworld (Winchester) has taken 11 technotrans' easy.fill hand held ink cartridge systems, an order placed through its inks supplier Stehlin Hostag.
Pressroom manager John Riley says: "We chose easy.fills because there is less wastage than with tins and it's a cleaner way of working. The feedback from operators is that these guns make it easier to fill the ducts and get into production. Plus they are much more fun!"
Mr Riley had used easy.fills before at other companies and knew that they would give Colourworld an economic advantage by cutting waste, as well as improving pressroom efficiency. Directors of Colourworld Chris and Andy Tyler-Smith have been pleasantly surprised at how cost effective the easy.fill's have proven to be.
The 11 units are fitted on two Speedmaster SM 74s, a six- and a five-colour. The cartridges carry process colours and seals. To date no specials have been used but this would be considered on a very long run job.
Colourworld is a specialist in fast turnround general commercial work with an ever growing nationwide customer base.
Easy.fill use an ink cartridge system with integrated pressure control to pump out ink to the press when dispensed by the operator. The cartridges, which are 2kg each, are easily changed with minimal ink waste. It is a simple and cost effective inking system and is part of a range of inking solutions from technotrans, which also includes handy.fill, ink.line, direct.ink.line, ink.trac and ink.move.
